Coconut Village is a charming holiday resort in Malindi set on a stretch of Silversands beach in Kenya. The resort is within 5 minutes drive from the town of Malindi and easily accessible by car. Coconut Village is known for its beautiful white beaches and calm turquoise waters.
Coconut Village forms part of a trio of hotels that make for a well equipped resort with 5 swimming pools, 3 bars, 2 restaurants and fantastic entertainment. Its sister hotels, Tropical Village (70m away) and Malindi Beach (50m away) have their own unique look and atmosphere, and offer excellent alternatives to Coconut Villages own great facilities. The Tropical Village restaurant for one, offers great food and delicious desserts.
The area around Sandies Coconut Village and its sister hotel has quite a bit of history and culture to offer the perceptive tourist. Popular sights include the Vasco Da Gama Pillar, the Portuguese Chapel and the mystifying Gede Ruins a twelfth century Swahili village that was mysteriously deserted 600 years ago without any sign of a cause. The ruins share a site with the Kipepeo Butterfly Project an innovative community enlistment programme that teaches the local people to breed the rare butterflies of the Arabuko-Sokoke forest. These specimens are sent to live butterfly displays around the world and bring in quite a bit of money.
Coconut Village is a wonderful hotel with great activities for the adventurous, as well as stunning beaches and swimming pools where you can lounge around, doing as little as possible.
